Looking for a new or used lift this season?  Your ticket to a boat show can serve as a valuable tool.  With many products and price points often under one roof, customers can compare quality, materials, prices warranty and company stablitiy.

Many customers want to know the value on a used lift or are considering trading their existing boat lift for a new one.  There are many things to consider when asking this question.  Because Boat Floater Industries, LLC has been serving boaters since 1974, there are many, many Boat Floater Lifts which have been in service since then, especially on Table Rock and Lake of the Ozarks.  Although materials have changed over the years the product is still built with the original design developed in 1974 and Boat Floater still offers one of the leading warranties in the business.

Used lifts do have value and are often a great solution to a limited buyer.  One must keep in mind however, the warranty on a new product.  When a product lasts 25 to 30 years the buyer can get a tremendous value when they buy a new lift.  Definitelyconsider the longevity of a product, its warranty and the manufacturer’s ability to stand behind its warranty in tough economic times.

Why the price diffence in boat lifts?  Many of my potential customers want to know why my product is higher in price than some of our competitors for the same capacity.  Yesterday I received an e-mail from a customer who has owned his Boat Floater lift for 26 years.  Shortly after I met with a potential customer on a dock discussing the difference between our lift and several others.  After checking out all of the other products available he turned to me and said, “The difference is incredible.”  We then walked up to our vehicles and he said to his wife, “You can’t believe it.  The other lifts are moving all around and up and down and the Boat Floater lift is completely still and solid.”

I started with our dock bracket.  The Boat Floater dock bracket weighs in at 38 lbs.  and there are four of them which attach the lift to the dock.  Our nearest competitor’s dock bracket weighs in at around 1/2 of what a Boat Floater dock bracket weighs and they go down in weight to as little as 8 lbs.  making this one part 30 lbs more steel than the competitor.  Additionally, scheduled steel pipe is used as opposed to aluminum tubing.  The polyethylene tanks are 3/4″ thick at the gussets which run the length of the tank.

The quality and durablity of the materials in our lift do come at a premium, however, we believe you should only have to make a boat lift purchase once.  I suggest the consumer go look at their boat lift choices on a dock whenever possible.  The differences are substantial and spending less on a lift than you should have could damage your dock and put your boat out of commission for the season.  It’s free to look.  Really, what can you buy these days that lasts 26 years or longer?

Inboard Competition Wake Boat Lift

The inboard crossmember on the Boat Floater lift takes out the guesswork.

“The trend this year seems to be the straight inboard competition wake board boats.”  Suggests, Phil Woodall, President of Boat Floater Industries, LLC.  ”Boat Floater Industries, LLC is the only boat lift manufacturer that provides for the inboard with an inboard crossmember.  One false move and your boat could be out of commission for the summer.  The inboard crossmember just takes that error factor out of the equation.”

As a rule a 4500 lb lift will accomodate most boats up to 21′ in length and Boat Floater’s 6600 lb lift will accomodate most boats up to 24′ in length and a dry weight of about 5,000 lbs.  “My suggestion is to go look at different boat lifts in the water if you can”, states Woodall.  “There are many different products made for different scenerios and the quality of material and craftsmanship is so important.  Our objective is to build the toughest, most maintenance free product available for all types of water conditions.”

Other attractive options from the standard lift include custom walkways, pontoon and tri-toon conversions, full power back in and more.  “Most of our lifts can be upgraded by adding a tank so your lift can grow with your needs,”  Woodall says.  “Because we build our product to last for 25 to 30 years, it is important to make it upgradeable.”
